Quick Facts
Day-by-Day Itinerary
05:00
Your driver-guide will pick you up from your coast hotel. The journey to Tsavo East's Bachuma Gate (the closest entry point) takes about 2.5 to 3 hours via the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
07:30
Short stop for park formalities, restrooms, and a quick briefing on the park.
07:45
Enter the park and immediately begin your first extensive game drive. Tsavo East is famous for its "Red Elephants" that dust themselves with the park's characteristic red earth. Keep an eye out for lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species.
10:30
Drive towards and around the Aruba Dam, a man-made waterhole that attracts a high concentration of wildlife, especially during the dry season. This is a prime viewing spot.
12:30
Head to a safari lodge (e.g., Voi Safari Lodge) within or just outside the park for a full buffet lunch. Many lodges are perched on hills, offering panoramic views of the park while you eat.
13:00
Resume your final game drive, exploring different sections of the park or heading towards the exit gate. Look for animals you may have missed, like cheetahs or leopards (if you're very lucky!), or visit landmarks like the Yatta Plateau (the world's longest lava flow) or Lugard's Falls (depending on time and route).
15:00
Check out at the exit gate (typically Bachuma or Voi Gate) and begin the drive back to the coast.
18:00
Arrive back at your hotel or residence, concluding your adventurous safari day.
